The Darfur Women Action Group (DWAG) delegation led by Ms: Nemat Ahmaday participated in the official sessions of the Coalition for the International Criminal Court (ICC) at the Court’s headquarters in The Hague on justice for victims of genocide and ethnic cleansing that have taken place and continue to take place in the Darfur region since 2003. <\/p>\n\n

“We were able to attend a large part of the official sessions of the assembly in addition to the side sessions, two of which were on Sudan,” Dr. Abdul Hafeez Mustafa Musa, a member of the group’s delegation, told Mirror News. “We met with the Prosecutor General and his team working with him on the Darfur file. The discussions were very informative, and we were able to re-emphasize the issue of justice in the Darfur region. We were also able to meet with some state representatives including two ministers of justice and others.” <\/p>\n\n

In a statement to MIRM News, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Mustafa said that he had a special meeting regarding the war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide crimes that occurred in Darmsalit in the recent period between 2020-2024. <\/p>\n\n

The Darfur Women’s Working Group delegation also assured the ICC Prosecutor, Mr. Karim Khan, that “we, the stakeholders (victims), reaffirm our full commitment and earnest endeavor to cooperate with the ICC and its Office in the framework of achieving justice for victims. We will not give up at any cost, knowing full well that the road to justice is a long one.” <\/p>\n\n

For his part, ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan emphasized that “the investigation is ongoing regarding past and present crimes and that he is committed to the issue of achieving justice for the victims of Darfur, although the world sometimes seems preoccupied with other issues, but as a judicial institution their work is clear and they are committed to moving forward to achieve justice whatever the challenges.” <\/p>\n\n
